Customer Interview: Agro Air Dynamics

Brett Zickert (left) and Kent Englund (right) from Agro Air Dynamics. We recently did an Agro Air Dynamics interview on 8/29/18.  Kent Englund had notified me that they were releasing a new product at the upcoming World Dairy Expo and I was excited to see what he had to say.  World Dairy Expo was a blast last year!

As I’ve mentioned before, the best way to help customers is to meet them on their own turf. There is no better way to get a feel for how the operation works.

It’s always a pleasure meeting with the people at Agro Air Dynamics. This time I was meeting with Kent Englund and Brett Zickert from the sales force. Below is the transcript of my interview with them:

Agro Air Dynamics Interview Transcript

vP: Thanks for having me guys, how has business been lately?

Brett: Busy, lot’s of good things happening in the industry and lot’s of orders coming in.

vP: That’s good to hear! When you say “good things happening in the industry,” are you referring to technology that we will be seeing at World Dairy Expo?

Kent: Yes, we are unavailing 2 new products there (World Dairy Expo).

vP: So what are they?

Brett: [laughs] you’ll have to wait and see.

vP: Very good, I had to try 😉

vP: So, generally speaking, What can customers expect from the new technologies?

Brett: Customers can expect better efficiency, maintenance savings and better materials.

vP: Who do you sell to and why?

Kent: We have a strong base here in the Midwest but we sell to all areas of the US and then Canada and Mexico.  Why? We’re here to help farmers keep their cows cool.

vP: You’ve told me about the cow cooling phenomenon before. For the purposes of the interview can you give me a short summary on what that’s all about again.

Kent: Absolutely, the numbers show that, when cows are ‘cool’ and comfortable their milk production goes way up.  Severely stressed cattle can experience up to a 20% decrease in milk production.

vP: Wow, that’s significant. I can see why you have so many farmers implementing cooling tactics for their farms. It’s almost like, if you aren’t implementing these cooling tactics, you’re falling behind in the industry. Really almost a modern day necessity.

Kent: Exactly, the technology sells itself.

vP: What’s the preferred way of making contact with you?

Kent: Phone call, email or through our website.  We love hearing from people and love hearing from new customers.

vP: Where do you guys see the industry going in the next 10 years?

Brett: More automation and more control at your fingertips.

vP: Sounds like the dairy industry is full of technology. I saw that at World Dairy Expo last year.

Kent: Right, more and more tech every day 🙂

vP: What’s the best part about this industry for you?

Kent: Satisfying customers.

Brett: Customers bragging about the milk they produce. Cow comfort produces milk!

vP: Great saying! I like that.

vP: What do you think most people are missing out on in the industry?

Brett: Cow Comfort.

vP: Interesting. Sounds like, as more people find out how important that is, you will be getting busier and busier!

Brett: Fore sure.

Kent: Yup, we’re ready for it and happy to help out.

vP: Finally, we touched on how to contact you before but, how does the on-boarding process work for new customers?

Kent: Again, new customers can start by contacting us via phone, email or our website form. Feel free to mention Kent or Brett.  We really believe in a personal touch to every job so we usually start with a on site assessment; over the phone if necessary.

vP: Is that a free consultation?

Brett: Yes, 100% free.

vP: What do you do in that assessment?

Kent: Not every farm is the same so we calculate airflow to propose an optimum cooling setup.  That includes a free estimate as well.

vP: Sounds like that is a great deal for farmers. Can’t go wrong with a free estimate and consultation. At the very least they would gain some very good information by meeting with you.

Kent: Right. Education is the key to success.

Brett: … And we provide the equipment… All on a job by job basis.

Kent: Yes, no cookie cutter here.

vP: That’s great guys, sounds like you provide a real quality service here. Congratulations on your success so far and I’m excited to see you grow from here. Can’t wait to see what you come out with at World Dairy Expo!

Brett: Thank you, we are very excited as well!

Post Interview Activities

agro air dynamics warehouse kent brett2After a very informative interview, we headed to the warehouse to check out some of the current technology that Agro Air Dynamics has to offer.  I tried to scope out what the new products were that they were releasing but that was all hidden from view.  They had a ton of stock in there.  I was floored. The operation had grown significantly since I was last in there.

You can tell that Brett and Kent are very knowledgeable in their industry and they really enjoy what they do.  These are the guys to talk to if you are in the market for farm ventilation.

Just a quick plug for another Fond du Lac area business… After the interview, Kent and I went to lunch at 11:11 Burgers & Beignets in Fond du Lac to discuss World Dairy Expo.  For people in the Fond du Lac area, that is a great place for lunch!  Kind of got me wondering if the farm that the cheese came from used advanced farm ventilation systems???

Anyway, Kent and I are both excited for the upcoming expo and encourage people interested in the event to visit too. Click here for our write-up of World Dairy Expo 2017.
